Thanks Cathy. As I mull it over, my best guess is that the biopsy was a false negative. Or if it was a true negative, then he happened to have other cancers anyway. When the surgeon removed his spleen, he was going to euthanize if he found cancers on other organs. He did find small bumps on the liver, but they were small enough that he just cut them off. I don't know how much real hope there ever was. I suspect the 30% chance of being cancer-free was wishful.

@Jolly said in USPS: I can see where EVs make sense for city delivery. Agree. Something like that (and school buses and garbage trucks) seem to be perfect. They are not in operation all the time. They have a large downtime for recharging. They do a lot of starts and stops, etc. In Taiwan, most of the mail is delivered on motorcycles. Easy to maneuver, etc. [image: img120160803082748815.jpg]

@Jolly Interesting. I did not know that. A friend was looking at putting it in at the used house they bought. The company told him that if it were a new house, it would be worth looking at, but for a revamp, not worth it.

Our choices reflect our ages (and where we grew up) more than the quality or quantity of humor in movies.

I have been intubated one time. Woke up restrained and still intubated. One nurse tried to hold my hand and calm me down while another put me under again. God Bless her, I almost broke her hand. Literally. She showed my wife her hand and I had clamped down hard enough to bruise most of her hand and some of her fingers.

From @George-K 's data link. Red line is a 15-year moving average. The next chart is average sea temperature. Anyway... conclude what you will. I think there is some correlation, but not as much as some folks want you to believe. Note the above is in the "opinion" section. Ha... back in Virginia when I replaced a bathroom vanity mirror I placed a skeleton toy behind it with a note that said "Finally, I've been dying to get out" or something stupid like that. One day it'll be found...

One of the guys I went to high school with, worked his butt off at different PT and odd jobs. His mom and dad helped him go to college, but he bought his own vehicle once he had enough money. A solid blue 1978 Chevy C10. 256 in-line 6 with a three speed. I think the only options he had was A/C, AM-FM radio and a cigarette lighter IIRC, he paid a little over $4000 for that truck.

https://deadline.com/2024/10/denis-villeneuve-dune-3-plans-1236119697/ Denis Villeneuve says that his “break” is over and that he will ”go back behind the camera faster than I think” to film the third instalment of his “deep” immersion into Frank Herbert’s Dune universe. “I’m in the writing zone right now,” the filmmaker says, referring to Dune: Messiah, though he was careful not to call it Dune: Part Three. Villeneuve insists that Dune: Part One and Part Two are ”for me like one entity. It’s a movie made in two parts. It’s finished, it’s done.” The Canadian-French director says that he could have stopped at Dune: Part Two, “but yes, like Herbert did with Dune: Messiah, I think it’ll be a great idea to do something completely different. The story takes place like 12 years after where we left the characters at the end of Part Two. Their journey, their story is different this time, and that’s why I always say that while it’s the same world it’s a new film with new circumstances.” That new movie, he continues “will finish the Paul Atreides arc.”
